A man has been told he must do jury service after he was originally excused on the grounds of his anti-war beliefs.
Rob Greenland, 30, of Bramley, Leeds, had said he would not be part of the judicial system while the government is preparing to wage what he considers to be an "unjust war."
The Jury Central Summoning Bureau, an executive agency of the Lord Chancellor's Department, had originally told Mr Greenland he did not have to serve.
But now the business adviser has been told he could face a fine of up to �1,000 if he does not report to Leeds Crown Court on 31 March.
A spokeswoman for the Lord Chancellor's Department said: "The wrong decision was made and this is accepted.
"The bureau has written to Mr Greenland apologising for the error and has asked him to undertake jury service."
She added that departmental guidance did not allow exemptions for those who object to jury service for political reasons, or those who have objections to government policy.
