Plans for tackling the current economic crisis and its impact on Cumbria will be discussed at a meeting in Carlisle.
Senior figures from the private, public and voluntary sectors are due to meet next week to discuss how the county can respond to the global downturn.
Cumbria Strategic Partnership (CSP) has organised the event which will feature specialist speakers and workshops.
The county council hopes the meeting will come up with practical steps to help Cumbria through the situation.
Councillor Tim Knowles said: "We need to ensure we are responding in the right way to minimise the impact the global financial crisis has on Cumbria as much as we can.
"The partnership approach we are taking is a positive step to bring together people with the skills, ideas and experience that are needed to pull the county through these difficult times."
