Money raised will help set up a trust fund for Sgt Telford's sons

A fundraising night has been held in memory of a soldier from Cleethorpes who was one of five killed in an attack in Afghanistan. Money raised at the event will be used to set up a trust fund for Sgt Matthew Telford's two sons, organisers said. Sgt Telford, 37, was one of five soldiers who died in the shooting by a rogue Afghan policeman. The servicemen, who had been mentoring and living with the Afghan police in a compound, were killed on 3 November. Sgt Telford had two sons, aged nine and four, and was married to Kerry. The other soldiers who died were Guardsman James "Jimmy" Major, Warrant Officer Darren Chant, Acting Cpl Steven Boote and Cpl Nicholas Webster-Smith. In a separate event over the weekend, a charity football match was held in Grimsby in honour of 18-year-old Guardsman Major.
