Computer games to help recovery

Nintendo Wii
Playing on the consoles helps patients build up strength

Hospital patients in Kent have been told to play on games consoles to help their rehabilitation.

Patients at St Bartholomew's Hospital in Rochester who have been recovering from strokes and orthopaedic conditions have been using Nintendo Wiis.

Patients have been learning to bowl and play tennis on the games system.

Ward sister Sandra Chapman said: "The Wii systems are not only fun but provide gentle rehabilitation and help to build up strength."
