Man charged over 1989 sex attack

Police have charged a 50-year-old man with the rape of a woman in Lancashire 20 years ago.

The woman, 22, was approached by a man as she walked home from a friend's house in Burnley in January 1989.

She was bundled into a car, which was driven by a second man and then sexually assaulted by both men.

Lancashire police have charged a man from Blantyre, Scotland, with kidnap and rape. He is due before Burnley magistrates on 30 December.
