A scheme to put young criminals into foster care, rather than jail, is being launched in London.
Youngsters aged 10 to 17 who are facing a prison sentence would instead be put into an "intensive" fostering scheme.
Children's charity NCH and the Youth Justice Board are backing the pilot scheme in London - one of three running across England.
They say offering youngsters support is the best way to rehabilitate them and stop them re-offending.
The scheme is due to be launched in London later with those backing it claiming it can turn round the lives of young people in the city.
