Attempts to restart a postal service in a Shropshire town have been thwarted.
The post office at Randlay closed in November as part of a review of services, despite calls from Telford and Wrekin Council to keep it open.
Councillor Andrew Eade said a branch in Telford town centre is collapsing under the new demands placed on it.
However, the Post Office said reopening the Randlay branch would have a detrimental effect on other post offices in the area.
During the campaign to keep Randlay open, residents gave the council a petition containing 1,800 signatures.
In a statement, the Post Office confirmed it had no plans to reinstate a service in the town.
