A Somerset woman who had three teeth removed by a dentist later bled to death because of severe cirrhosis of the liver, an inquest has heard.
Pauline Coles, 38, died after spitting up blood for several hours following the dental surgery in 2008.
West Somerset Coroners' Court was told Ms Coles was an alcoholic and had not sought medical help for her cirrhosis because of a fear of hospitals.
Coroner Michael Rose recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
Dentist Lisle Lewis, who removed the rotten teeth at Blenheim House Dental Practice in Minehead, told the court she was unaware of the extent of Ms Coles' liver and clotting problems.
Mr Rose said: "Sadly Pauline Coles was the author of her own misfortune.
"There is no criticism of Dr Lewis and I am satisfied that she carried out the correct procedure."
