High fliers grounded on pathways

The BA staff spent the day down to earth

A team of 16 from British Airways London HQ has been helping National Trust wardens carry out repairs to public routes in Box Hill in Surrey.

They spent Wednesday restoring walkways and paths as a team-building exercise.

Trust Warden Matthew Banner said: "This project allows them to benefit from a different countryside experience.

"While we get free manpower for a day, they get a chance to work together on a conservation project and form better working relationships."

He continued: "We hope they will return with their families soon to see the difference their work will have made to the area."

Box Hill wardens gave away 130 box plants to British Airways workers at their Waterside headquarters in a bid to encourage them to volunteer for similar projects in the future.
