An unemployed Durham man says the Jobcentre is making it unnecessarily complicated for him to secure work.
Andrew Barcess has enrolled to train as an electrician and has a placement with a tradesman, who has promised him full-time work when he is qualified.
But the 25-year-old said the Jobcentre has threatened to cut his benefits unless he attends a New Deal course - aimed at helping him find him a job.
The Department for Work and Pensions said it cannot discuss specific cases.
Mr Barcess, from Stanley, said the government is wasting money by insisting he attend courses to help him secure training and employment - something he claims has already achieved.

He said: "I have an ambition and they don't want to help you. I'm trying my hardest.
"The Jobcentre's supposed to be there to help you and it doesn't do anything for me apart from get me wound up."
If his benefits are cut, Mr Barcess said he will no longer be eligible for his free Hartlepool College courses.
A spokesman for the Department For Work and Pensions spokesman said he could not discuss individual cases.
He said there are mandatory elements of New Deal, one of which is to undertake a programme of options.
But he said staff would be happy to talk to any job seeker facing problems with the scheme.
