Adult care services rated 'well'

Plymouth's rating moved up to "well" from "adequate"

Adult social care across Devon has been rated "well" by a government health watchdog.

The rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) was applied to all three of the care provider areas: Devon County, Plymouth and Torbay.

Plymouth's rating moved up to "well" from the "adequate" rating that it received in 2008.

The CQC said there were now three times more people in Devon receiving social care through direct payments.

It said the move gave people more choice and control about the care they received.
