The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has been rocked by a series of five co-ordinated blasts targeting government offices in the centre of the city.
At least 127 people died and hundreds were wounded in the blasts, including here at the Finance Ministry.
Emergency workers struggled to release those trapped in the damaged buildings.
The car bomb which exploded outside the Labour Ministry blew a small crater into the road.
Both police officers and civilians were killed in the blasts.
Some families found their relatives wounded, but alive, at Baghdad hospitals.
Others had to cope with the news that their family members had died.
In the midst of all the destruction, this dog survived, still chained to a railing on a ledge overlooking its collapsed home. Its owner, at first presumed killed, later returned to claim her.
Iraq's national security adviser said al-Qaeda militants were behind the attacks, which he said were aimed at convincing Iraqis that their government could not protect them.
