Kinnock: Brown 'should remain as PM'

Labour have lost their majority in parliament, currently holding 29% of the vote share with 614 of the 650 seats declared.

Former Labour leader Lord Kinnock urged political parties to adopt electoral reforms: "If people are reasonable yesterday will be the last day in UK history in which we have a first past the post general election."

He commented that Gordon Brown should remain as Prime Minister, "the UK needs stability and continuity in government."
