Jack Straw on remembering evidence

Witnesses at the Leveson inquiry are finding themselves having to remember things they may have long forgotten, or perhaps wanted to forget.

The former home secretary Jack Straw, who was himself a witness at the inquiry, told the Today programme that some things he remembered "very precisely" from informal ministerial conversations - but he acknowledges that "some important things had slipped my memory almost entirely".

"It is almost beyond expectation to anticipate that everyone will remember every sequence of events", he said.
