Jewellery worth �600,000 stolen

Police are looking through CCTV footage and appealed for information

A jewellery salesman has had more than £600,000 worth of goods stolen from him at a charity shop in Perth.

The 62-year-old had visited Timothy Hardie jewellers before stopping off at the Oxfam in South Street shortly before 1500 BST on Tuesday.

He put the blue canvas bag containing the jewels on the floor to browse through the books and it was taken.

It is believed a woman may have followed him from the jewellers to the store before stealing the bag.

Police are examining CCTV footage to find the culprits and have appealed for information.

The woman is aged 20-25 years old, about 5ft 2in tall, slim, and of "European appearance".

She had long, dark brown, wavy hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing jeans and black trainers with white toes.

The woman was spotted with two men, one who was carrying a blue bag, shortly after the theft.

All three got into a car, possibly a blue or black old-style BMW, which drove off at speed.
