Bangor University has awarded honorary degrees to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir David Attenborough and Rhodri Morgan
Archbishop Desmond Tutu has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Bangor University.
Tutu, the leading anti-apartheid campaigner and Nobel Peace prize winner, was being honoured alongside the first minister.
Tutu, the former Archbishop of Cape Town, was a keynote speaker at the Hay Literary Festival in Powys last month.
Rhodri Morgan and broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough also received honorary degrees.
Last month Tutu, who is the former chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, paid tribute to the students who supported his country in its journey towards democracy as he picked up an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.
Professor Sir John Meurig Thomas, Honorary Professor of Solid State Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, also received an honorary degree at the ceremony in Bangor.
