Hundreds of people gathered in Castle Square in Swansea to mark Armistice Day at an event partly organised by the Royal British Legion.
It featured live music from Classical BRIT Award winners Blake and a reading from Swansea singer Bonnie Tyler
It was hosted by Mal Pope with live feeds broadcast via a big screen between Swansea and a similar event in London
It brought together young and old with cadets selling and distributing poppies to the crowd
Following the music and readings the two-minute silence was impeccably observed by the near-1,000 people, among them Bonnie Tyler
Swansea and London linked up to host the event, called Silence in the Square
Following the event people were invited to throw poppies into the main water fountain in the square
A parade was staged at the same time at the city's cenotaph on the other side of the city to mark the end of World War I.
