Battle for support
Organisers of Jersey's Battle of Flowers are calling on the public to help give the show a boost.

Battle Chairman Tony Perkins said this years Battle was not as busy as he had hoped.

Mr Perkins is hoping people will come up with constructive ideas about changes to the annual extravaganza.

An open meeting is being held on Thursday in St Lawrence Parish Hall at 1930.

Lack of interest in the Battle of Flowers this year meant that St Martin Battle of Flowers Association did not enter a float.

It is now looking for volunteers of all ages to help build a float for next year's show.

The Battle of Flowers display in Guernsey was also criticised for a poor turnout this year.

Rose Polli, one of the designers of a float in this years' Battle of the Flowers, said she was disappointed that there were not more floats for the finale.
