The trial of Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi sparked international outrage. These protesters gathered in the Thai capital, Bangkok.
The 63-year-old pro-democracy leader has been accused of violating the terms of her house arrest, and faces five years in jail if found guilty.
She has already spent 13 years in jail or under house arrest, and government critics say this latest charge is just a pretext to keep her behind bars until after the 2010 election.
One protester in Bangkok, who looks like Aung San Suu Kyi, stood in a mock jail cell to illustrate her cause.

Protesters also turned out in Paris, where foreign minister Bernard Kouchner has denounced the trial as a "scandalous provocation".
Inside Burma, the first day of the trial at Insein jail passed peacefully. Protesters have been unable to get to the jail, prevented by security forces and road blocks.
