Schrager eyes London hotels sale
Tuscan restaurant at St Martins Lane hotel
Mr Schrager says he wants to expand his company
Ian Schrager, known for his luxury boutique hotels, has hung for sale signs over two of his London hotels, the St Martins Lane and the Sanderson.

He said he was considering a sale after receiving expressions of interest from potential buyers.

Any price would be "far in excess of the 100m cited" in recent press reports, he said.

Mr Schrager's company would continue managing the Philippe Starck-designed hotels after any sale, he said.

"Given today's market and the prices we believe we can obtain for these properties, we felt obligated to explore this possibility," said Mr Schrager.

"These hotels are doing extremely well. They are significantly outperforming the market."

He said the proceeds of any sale would be used to expand his company, Morgans Hotel Group, and improve its remaining assets.

Its portfolio includes the Delano in Miami, Mondrian in Los Angeles and New York's Royalton and Hudson.
