British actress Kristin Scott Thomas will return to the London stage this autumn in a rarely performed tragedy.
The Four Weddings and a Funeral star will play a Berlin nightclub singer with amnesia in As You Desire Me by Italian dramatist Luigi Pirandello.
The play's director is Jonathan Kent, former head of the Almeida theatre.
Scott Thomas, 44, was nominated for a Laurence Olivier award after making her UK stage debut in Three Sisters at London's Playhouse theatre in 2003.

British audiences will rediscover a great author

In As You Desire Me, Scott Thomas' character, Lucia, is a married woman who is claimed by another man who says he is her husband.
"It is a difficult role," Mr Kent said. "Kristin has exactly the mystery and allure to carry it off." The venue for the play has not yet been announced.
Scott Thomas said: "I'm looking forward to working with Jonathan in a play that has not been produced in London for about 40 years. British audiences will rediscover a great author."
Oscar nominee
The Cornwall-born actress is best known for screen performances in Gosford Park, Mission: Impossible and The English Patient, for which she was nominated for an Oscar.
Recent films have included period epic Man to Man, which opened the Berlin Film Festival in February, and Arsene Lupin, shown at the Renault French Film Season in London last week.
Scott Thomas, who lives in France with her obstetrician husband and their three children, was awarded an OBE in 2003.
