Sir Peter Hall picked up the play after others rejected it

Sir Peter Hall has brought Waiting for Godot back to London's West End, 51 years after he directed the original.
The play, often hailed as defining modern British theatre, was first performed in English at the Arts Theatre, when Hall was 24.
Sir Peter had intended to stage the play for its 50th anniversary but the Barbican put on its own version.
His new production began in Bath and has toured but is now opening at the New Ambassadors Theatre.
Waiting for Godot was written by Samuel Beckett in the late 1940's, originally in French, his second language.
Translated into English in 1954, Beckett had no success in getting the play produced in England until he sent it to Hall.
