Jade Goody has spoken about her illness in a series for Living TV

Jade Goody has been moved out of intensive care after a successful operation, to remove a cancerous tumour from her bowel.

The former reality TV star had been in "good spirits" at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

However her spokesman Max Clifford said that Goody was having "a very bad day today" and was in pain.

The 27-year-old learned last week that cervical cancer diagnosed in 2008 had spread to her bowel, liver and groin.

Goody is understood to be receiving an experimental drug to fight her illness.

Topotecan, which is still being tested in the UK, has been used in cases when patients have not responded to other medicines.

Goody has already undergone chemotherapy to combat the disease. Speaking after her surgery, which took place on 6 February, she said: "The hard truth is I'd be dead if they hadn't cleared the blockage in my bowel.

"The tumour made me constipated and caused my body to start bloating.

My biggest fear was that I would have to have a colostomy bag."

Goody has continued to appear on television and speak to the press throughout her treatment.

The celebrity has two young sons, Bobby, aged five, and four-year-old Freddie.

Earlier this week, Max Clifford said she had been lifted by messages of support arriving at the hospital from well-wishers.
