Fewer stars are expected to be at the Venice Film Festival to promote their latest films.
The studios behind the latest Hollywood movies have cut back on sending stars out on the red carpet, shut down their independent wings and reduced their overall costs.
But this means there has been more focus on the quality of the films featuring at the festival.
Critics say this may be the ripe time for independents to showcase their work.
