Jersey fishermen refused licences by the States of Guernsey will be able to resume fishing in Guernsey waters.
New rules meant fishermen had to apply for licences to fish in a 12-mile area around the island.
In the past, they were allowed to fish in Guernsey waters provided they held a licence from either Jersey or the UK's authorities.
Guernsey's Royal Court has ruled the new laws are illegal. The States is now considering whether to appeal.
Lengthy judgment
Judge Talbot QC ruled the laws on both the three to 12-mile limits and the zero to three-mile limits are illegal.
Deputy Mike Taylor, president of the Jersey Fishermen's Association, says he expects Jersey fishermen to be able to return to Guernsey waters soon.
The authorities in Guernsey, which have recently taken control of fisheries in the new government, say they are disappointed with the verdict.
