Beau Sejour Leisure Centre has come second in the fitness industry's equivalent of the Oscars.
The centre finished as runner-up to the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield in the FIA (Fitness Industry Association) FLAME Awards.
The centre underwent a rigorous assessment from a panel of judges and was also visited by a survey company which gave feedback from users.
One of the centre managers said they were delighted at the award.
Sam Herridge, business development manager, said: "The awards act as a national benchmark for leisure centres up and down the country and are an important yardstick for judging and maintaining industry standards.
"They help recognise that the centre is being managed in the best way possible and that we're providing our members with superb facilities and excellent value for money."
"This is first time we have entered the competition, and to achieve so much on the first attempt is something for the whole of the local community to be proud of."
