ID card scheme to expand to pubs
A proof of age card scheme is to be expanded to pubs and shops in Guernsey to cut down on under-age drinking.

The Portman Group's photo card, now in use in supermarkets, will be accepted alongside other forms of identification to prove the holder is over 18.

The card is expected to be rolled out across the island in July ahead of the summer, with pubs and shops sent application packs.

People would have to pay for the card which would be issued from the UK.

Drugs and Alcohol Strategy co-ordinator Andrea Nightingale said it aimed to help the pub trade as much as possible to try to alleviate under-age drinking.
