More seek help over 'legal highs'

Guernsey's ban on the importation of commercial amounts of legal highs has led to an increase in the number of addicts seeking help.

Drug and Alcohol Coordinator Andrea Nightingale said: "There has been an increase in users coming forward."

The team is concerned with clients who have shown signs of addictive behaviour after using legal highs.

Although possessing commercial quantities are prohibited, personal use of the substances is still legal.

Jersey introduced a ban on possessing large amounts of the legal highs in 2008 but shops are still allowed to sell products until stocks finish.
