Island's drink-drive push begins
Road safety officers on the Isle of Man said drink-drivers risk "their lives, others' lives, their jobs and freedom".

The island's constabulary launched its Christmas anti drink-drive push in Douglas on Wednesday.

The campaign has two elements - a radio advert with children carol singing and a graphic poster campaign.

The pictures feature a funeral car, police car, ambulance and taxi, and pose the question: "Who will be taking you home tonight?"

'Not worth it'

The campaign aims to raise awareness of having just a few drinks, to educate drivers that they cannot calculate their alcohol limit and to get motorists to think about the consequences of drink-driving.

Gordon Edwards, road safety manager for the Isle of Man Department of Transport, said: "Motorists who drink and drive are taking a massive risk.

"They risk their own safety, the safety of others in the car and those sharing the road; they risk losing their jobs and their freedom

"Most importantly they are risking the lives of their loved ones and innocent victims for the sake of an alcoholic drink. It's just not worth it."
