The Isle of Man not only has the biggest waterwheel but also the largest potato
A giant potato owned by an Isle of Man restaurateur is to hold on to its record-breaking title.
The 3.5kg (7lb 13oz) potato looked set to lose its World's Biggest Potato crown to a vegetable owned by a southern Lebanese farmer.
But now owner Nigel Kermode, of Green restaurant, Douglas, has been told that the 11.3kg (24.9lbs) Lebanese spud is actually a sweet potato.
The Manx potato has been the world's biggest for 10 years.
Mr Kermode has said he will display his potato when he opens a new restaurant this year.
It is preserved in a special alcohol blend.
"I often think in these economic times, if things go wrong, I've always got a meal and a drink," Mr Kermode said.
