People in Jersey could have to wait less time for operations if an extension to the General Hospital is approved.
The hospital has applied to the planning authorities to build a three-storey extension to its day surgery.
The proposed building would include a second day surgery theatre, more trolley space and more rooms for patients.
A new minor operations theatre is also planned.
It would be built on top of the present medical library and would connect the back of Peter Crill House with the Gwyneth Huelin wing.
If plans are approved, building work could start in September and would take between 18 months and two years to complete.
