Vodka firm finds site for factory
The group set up to turn surplus Jersey potatoes into vodka has found a site for a distillery.

The Jersey Royal Vodka Company looked at several sites and has found one that is suitable.

But the location of the site on the island is being kept a closely guarded secret.

The group behind the project need planning permission and have already turned down other sites which were not suitable.

Project director Mike Cottilard, said: "We are not willing to say where the site is, but plans are well advanced."

The distillery needs to be in a place where two tractors and trailers can pass without holding anyone up and it needs to be out of the way of neighbours.

The move to distil vodka follows criticism by environmental group Concern of what it called the artificial maintenance of the potato industry and its impact on the environment.
