States discuss gay age of consent
Jersey politicians will decide whether to lower the age of consent for gay men at their first full meeting under the new ministerial government system.

It is illegal for gay couples to have sex until they are 18 in both Jersey and Guernsey although for heterosexuals the age of consent is 16.

Dropping the age of consent to 16 is in a proposition from Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard on Tuesday.

The Draft Sexual Offences Law is on the first States Order Paper of the year.
