Panel scrutinises dairy industry
Jersey's dairy industry is to be reviewed by the States to improve overall efficiency.

A new scrutiny panel has been set up for a three-month review of the industry on the island.

It will examine how to boost productivity and how the industry will work in light of Jersey's new competition laws.

The implications of relocating Jersey Dairy will also be assessed. Deputy Alan Breckon will lead the panel.

Jersey Dairy is expected to move from its current site at Five Oaks and has plans for a modern dairy and a visitor centre where islanders and tourists can learn how different dairy products are made.

Chief Minister Frank Walker said dairy is a fundamental industry to the island.
