For and against alcohol price rises in England

MPs have demanded radical measures to curb excessive drinking in England.

A report by the Health Select Committee says the government has ignored the evidence on how to tackle the problem, and paid too much heed to the drinks industry.

Health campaigners have welcomed the MPs' endorsement of a minimum price per unit of alcohol.

Gavin Partington, a spokesman for the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, and Kevin Barron, Chair of the Health Select Committee, give their views on the report.
