Red Adair tackles blaze on Piper Alpha rig in 1989

Texan expert fire fighter Red Adair on the still-burning Piper Alpha offshore platform on 10 July 1988, before he had to retreat because of surging flames and stormy weather.

The North Sea rig burst into flame on 6 July 1988 after a series of explosions. The fires killed 167 men, making nit the worst offshore oil rig disaster in history.
