An railway coach lies abandoned in the area of Tangshan in China following a large earthquake which devastated the industrial town on 28 July 1976 .

Officially the Chinese government estimated between 240,000 and 250,000 people died in the Tangshan earthquake, though some believe the figure is more like 750,000.
