The crane towers over the Riverfront Arts Centre on the banks of the River Usk in Newport
Foundations have had to be driven into the river banks to stop them collapsing under the weight of the crane
It has been brought in to lift sections of the new 5m footbridge into place
The crane was brought in using 48 articulated lorries
The new bridge will be nearly 17m (56ft) taller than Nelson's Column
The bridge deck will be the length of 17 double decker buses
Approximately 850 tonnes of Corus steel will be used to build the bridge - enough steel to make 64 double decker buses
The construction of the bridge is expected to take a number of days
