If I were prime minister: Purushotham Chanda

India will be holding elections over the course of one month from 16 April.

BBC News asked people from all corners of the world's largest democracy what they would do if they were prime minister.

PURUSHOTHAM CHANDA, 27, NGO WORKER, HYDERABAD

Purushotham Chanda
I have always wanted to enter into politics but in India one can jump into it only if you have money or an influential godfather.

Still, I am trying in my own way to get in and transform India.

As prime minister of India, my first focus would be on improving literacy. The absence of which is dragging India back.

I think education is the solution for every problem in developing countries like India.

The second step would be educating the people about the Right to Information Act. It is a great tool for eradicating corruption and improving transparency in government systems.

I chose this as I think corruption is the first enemy of India. I will promote and encourage agriculture and entrepreneurship.
