India will be holding elections over the course of one month from 16 April.
BBC News asked people from all corners of the world's largest democracy what they would do if they were prime minister.

India has suffered for decades due to its corrupt political leadership.
We as citizens tend to blame it all on the system. And sometimes we are right.
One of the major reason is that people are not participating in the political process as they should.
Reason? The political system is a dirty place to be. Ask any one on the streets or schools or colleges. "Do you want to become a politician?"
The answer would be a big sarcastic, "NO."
To make politics a place where everyone would like to be, we need to cleanse it.
If I were the prime minister of India, I would do the following to cleanse the political system because the hard fact is that we can not live without politics, so lets make things better from there:
I would remove all politicians with a history of crime, remove non-performing politicians, make politicians accountable for all their possessions. I will pass a law according to which corrupt politicians will become extinct.
