Snow storms have battered much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, bringing a return of the travel chaos which plagued the UK in January.

Many roads are blocked, the East Coast Main Line has been closed to rail services between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Edinburgh after landslides and all ferries between Scotland and Northern Ireland have been cancelled.

More than 70,000 homes in Scotland and Northern Ireland have been left without electricity after ice on power lines combined with gale force winds to bring down cables.

The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for parts of Scotland including the Highlands, Grampian, Aberdeenshire, Lothian and Borders. Snow is expected over high ground in England and Wales during Wednesday.

Snow and high winds made travelling to work a problem for many people. However, some workers tried their best to carry on as normal.
