Adam Smith, 22, had been demonstrating the trampoline bungee ride at the Fantasy Island complex at Ingoldmells near Skegness.

A spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police said a wire which was attached to his ankles snapped during the ride.

The Health and Safety Executive has begun an investigation into the accident which happened at about 1300 BST on Friday.

'Working crowd'

Mr Smith was airlifted to the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston with a suspected broken leg.

The ride was being operated by Cruise Leisure on land which is part of the Fantasy Island complex.

A spokesman for Fantasy Island said the theme park rented the land to Cruise Leisure.

"In acting as landlords we do ensure such attractions do comply with the health and safety regulations and have all the paperwork in place."

He said the ride was approximately eight-metres-high and Mr Smith had been "working the crowd" by going on the ride before the accident happened.
