The Chatsworth Estate is planning to extend its local retail centre.

But in doing so, it has closed its other London store.

The farm shop has been run on the Chatsworth Estate since the late 1970's.

Range expanded

Four years ago another store in London's Belgravia opened selling the Derbyshire produce.

However estate managers have been reviewing their retail operations and they decided it did not make financial sense to keep the shop open with the transport costs involved.

It closed last week with the loss of 10 jobs.

Now they are proposing to expand the local store which already boasts its own mail order business, butchers and caf�.

It will offer more local produce and even do cookery demonstrations.

It is likely extra jobs will be created to add to the 100-strong workforce already there.
