Cash grants tackle domestic abuse
Domestic violence
Activity has been stepped up in three policing areas
Extra cash for tackling domestic violence during the festive period has gone to three South East police areas.

Home Office grants of 9,000 have been given to fund activities by officers in East Sussex, Mid Kent, and West Surrey.

Enforcement campaigns were stepped up during Christmas and continue through the new year to 6 January.

Activity has included gathering video evidence at scenes of incidents, and intelligence-led targeting of high risk repeat offenders.

The three police areas were among 50 across England and Wales to get the extra funds.

Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker said domestic violence accounted for 15% of all violent crime nationally, and amounted to 31% of all violence against women and 5% of all violence against men.
