EEDA works to bring investment to the region

A development agency has helped to create or safeguard 4,927 jobs and enabled 13,029 people to get work in the past year, a report has revealed.
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) has been analysed by the Department for Business and Enterprise.
The agency helped create or attracted 1,480 new businesses to Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, the report said.
It has also brought in investment worth �134m - 45% from the private sector.
The department's study said 34,918 businesses were enabled to improve their performance and 52 hectares of brownfield land was brought back into new use.
Skills development programmes assisted 41,274 people including 2,939 who went through the "Skills for Life" strategy.
