Funding hope for dental schools

Working together could help build a reputation for excellence

The South West Peninsula Dental School has teamed up with two other dental schools to help improve research.

It is hoped sharing talents and skills with students at Cardiff University and the University of Bristol will help attract more research funding.

The three schools also believe collaboration will help them achieve an international reputation for quality and excellence.

Patients would also benefit from the highest standards of care, they said.

"We firmly believe that, between the three institutions, we have the knowledge, skills and expertise that can make South Wales and the West Country an international centre for dental research of the highest quality," Professor Liz Kay, the Peninsula Dental School dean said.

The Peninsula Dental School is a partnership between the universities of Exeter and Plymouth, and the NHS in Devon and Cornwall.
