Soldier's body home from Helmand
Captain Jim Philippson
Captain Jim Philippson was killed by Taleban fighters in Afghanistan
The body of the first British soldier killed in action in Helmand province, Afghanistan, has been brought home.

Captain Jim Philippson, of 7 Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, is believed to have been trying to help a wounded colleague when he was shot.

The 29-year-old from St Albans, Herts, was killed supporting Afghan forces fighting suspected Taliban insurgents.

His body was flown to RAF Brize Norton in Oxon. Two other soldiers were also injured during last weekend's fighting.

Soldiers in ceremonial uniform carried the coffin off the plane with full regimental honours when it landed on Friday.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said it was not known when the funeral would take place.
