Firefighters found the boy under the water

A six-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after he fell through ice into a freezing pond in Berkshire. Another child raised the alarm after seeing the boy fall into the pond in a garden in Burys Bank Road in Crookham Common on Tuesday afternoon. A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said firefighters found the boy under the water. Police said he was missing for 30 minutes. The boy was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment. A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "We are investigating the cause of the incident. "I believe the family were alerted that he had gone into the pond, and he was found by the fire and rescue service."
