Bus station staff find boa in box
Snake inside polystyrene box
The boa constrictor was found on a bus in Swindon Bus Station
A boa constrictor has been found abandoned on a bus in Swindon.

The snake was left on a Thamesdown service on Sunday night inside a taped-up polystyrene box.

A bus driver took the box to the bus station's lost property department where they discovered the box contained a snake.

A spokeswoman for the RSPCA said they believe the snake had been bought, and left on the bus, during Sunday.

Stephanie Daly said: "Luckily it was already in the office and a secured environment when they found it.

"As soon as the staff saw the snake inside the box they closed the lid again."

She added that investigations revealed the snake had been sold, but an owner has yet to claim the animal.

The snake has been taken to a specialist exotic animal vet in Surrey.

If the snake is not claimed within seven days the RSPCA will rehouse it.
