Jazz musicians Dame Cleo Laine and John Dankworth are to receive honorary degrees from Cambridge University.
The husband and wife, whose musical careers have spanned more than four decades, will be made honorary Doctors of Music at a special ceremony in June.
The couple now live in Wavendon near Milton Keynes but are often on tour around the world with their music.
The university says it is giving the honour in recognition of the couple's contribution to the world of music.
Singer Cleo Laine, 76, known as the First Lady of Jazz has appeared on stages all over the world with her husband, who is recognised as one of the world's most outstanding jazz musicians.
Packed schedule
Dame Cleo Laine started her singing career in English dance halls and is the only singer ever to receive Grammy nominations in the female jazz, popular and classical categories.
Johnny Dankworth, 77, has been praised for his work as a composer, conductor and jazz performer on the saxophone and clarinet.
They are committed to a packed tour schedule this year including concerts in the United States and England.
The degree ceremony will take place on 21 June, 2004.
